So long, dragon breath!
With the arrival of my Kindle this winter I looked forward to all sorts of books that I could read covertly. Guilty romance novels, Stephen Kings, and so on. True to form, I only browsed these selections (the romance novels are particularly entertaining.) Hesitant to actually purchase anything, I looked instead for classics that were free. As the temperature dropped in Banff, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo seemed cheap and fitting. A mystery novel set in sub zero Sweden? Yeah!
I trudged on and on through the snowy pages. Friends, and a recent radio piece, all chimed in: “You just have to get through the first hundred pages or so!” I tried.
With the main characters together in a lovely little house in chilly Sweden, enjoying wine, a meat and potato (with cream sauce!) dinner and finally cuddling up to keep warm, I decided to call it a night.
Tonight I made a lovely potato-crusted cod, scalloped potato and veggie supper. With a lovely side of Banff ave. Brewing Company IPA. And rung in the New Year with a new book – Margaret Atwood’s The Year of the Flood. For dessert? Dark chocolate from Ikea. Ah, how things come together.

Love the way you write, Malibu. Two things. how was that cod dinner? looks marvellous. Secondly, how was Magaret Atwood’s book? Must see if my new “kobo” has that book. It’s charging now…..
And dark chocolate? Ouch. I love Lindt bars ….
